From time to time a business opportunity catches my eye and about a year ago I noticed a very unique business idea that looked like it might become an opportunity available to folks who wanted to start a small home business.  I was doing some research one day and saw a piece on a new start up called 23 And Me which was funded by Google and I remember thinking, “wow, this is going to be big, I wonder if there is a way I can be a part of it?”  I did a little more research and that is when I stumbled upon this unique business opportunity that I mentioned “caught my eye”.

You See 23AndMe is basically a company that will send you an in home DNA kit and then anyalyse the results based on the product you select.  The product options include a health option which will show you your genetic predispositions to certain disease, pretty cool huh?  The other product is a geneology product to assist people in further developing ansestory and their family tree.  Now, that in and of itself is pretty cool, but get this:

About six months ago that business that “caught my eye” DID offer a business opportunity!  And when I say opportunity, I mean it.  (I partnered with them myself)  Here are a couple reasons I really feel this is a solid opportunity that’s worth investing your time, integrity, and ambition in:

• We are talking about partnering with a 16 year old company.
• We are talking about a company that’s been engaged with Research and Development for Most of that 16 Years.
• This is a chance to become an affiliate to a patented one of a kind product/service.
• There is also an opportunity to work with Professionals in the Health, Fitness, Spa and Aging sectors.
• The compensation model is absolutely geared toward folks who want to make money early on. (money talks)
• The start-up costs AND expenses related to “being in business” are ridiculoulsy low. (sometimes good, sometimes not)
• In many cases (depending on who you are) the opportunity will fit into your daily activities seamlessly.
• And My Favorite: It’s fun and people love the idea… It’s new AND relevant.

I’m not sure if it’s for you, but maybe you know someone who sees an opportunity in offering a DNA based solution for improved health and a product that slows aging?

Now that we have that out of the way, I’d like to share a few ideas on business opportunities and the home business industry in general.  Thousands of people are starting small home businesses every month, some see it as a Plan B and others have a goal of quitting a job they either don’t like or that takes them away from their families and more specifically their children.  I have a daughter, her name is Alaina and she’s 10.  I’ve been an entrepreneur the entire time Alaina has been alive but being an entrepreneur hasn’t always afforded me the opportunity to do what I like with my time. Of course I thought it would in the beginning and I was really more concerned with making lots of money then anyway.  But here is the thing,  owning a service type business like I did (commercial contruction company) really isn’t a whole lot better than having a really good job.  And if your currently a business owner, you probably understand.

About Business Opportunities

I’m not afraid of work.  I work hard and expect that if I’m willing to work hard for something, I always get it, and I usually do. Here is what I found:

I figured out that in order to have an abundance of Time and Money (at the same time) I need to quit trading my time for money.  You see in order for me to get paid in the commercial contruction industry, I had to build something. No build=No Money and building stuff takes a lot of time and forced me to assume a lot of risk (all of it) and on top of that I had to sacrifice control over my cash flow.  Some jobs would pay a full 6 months to a year after their completion.  I remember buying a dozen eggs from a very large retailer (….mart) That I’d built and I wasn’t even Paid Yet!! What’s wrong with that?

My point is this: If you want to create a passive income element in your life, you have to do it intentionally and in order to do that you need to pick business opportunity with that in the cards. (like this one)
