American Marketing A Historical Documentary About Edward Bernays and Sigmund Freud.

This is a great free documentary on marketing you can watch online.  Maybe a movie any marketing major should watch and comment on as a degree requirement, what do you think?  I’ve been asked in the midst of more than one rant ” I don’t agree with what they are doing” Who’s they?  Having a sense the there is in fact a “They” is not paranoid, melancholy thinking, its dead on accurate…. Watch the documentary and learn why. Not a conspiracy at all, Bernays family and government officials shed light on the importance of Pr and it’s connection to commercial marketing as we know it today.

Who is Edward Bernays? Sigmund Freud?

Who is Edward Bernays? Most know Who Sigmund Freud is, whats the relationship between the two, and what does that have to do with marketing? Take an honest look at the world we live in. An intelligent self educated society is smart, attainable, and an idea whose time has come.

What Did Sigmund Freud Contribute?

This is the story of the relationship between Sigmund Freud and his American nephew, Edward Bernays. Bernays invented the public relations profession in the 1920s and was the first person to take Freud’s ideas to manipulate the masses. He showed American corporations how they could make people want things they didn’t need by systematically linking mass-produced goods to their unconscious desires.
