This isn’t a left brained guide to starting your own home business or anything of the sort. It is a compilation of the things I’ve learned about starting businesses over the last 15 years or so. It might not be what you think, but I tell you what, it’s worth a read.
Starting businesses is something I enjoy and am able to do it at record speed by exclusively starting home based businesses. I’m not talking turnkey home business opportunities although some of these are the most successful small businesses you will come across on the Internet today. I’m talking about simple businesses from simple online business opportunities to consulting and back to making money from home with websites.
The Best Business Ideas
The best business ideas are the ones that work. A few years back I started focusing my efforts exclusively on business ideas that allowed me to work from home and not have employees. I do some outsourcing from time to time. I do get help, but I don’t have the financial burden that employees bring and I also enjoy more time freedom by starting only home businesses.

It has been my overwhelming experience that most people never leave the planning stages of a start up and for this reason alone most fail before they even begin. I go into more detail in the article about that, and out line my simple method for starting my own home businesses.
The article talks a little about my theories on funding, how one business is better to start than another and why, and even into the anxiety you may be met with when starting a business from home for the first time.

I spend a considerable amount of time evaluating online small business ideas and find that the best business opportunities are the ones that incorporate the real world and the Internet. If you have a business concept that does this and your excited about it, it might be the best small business idea to start.
The home business model is an amazing tool, combined with the Internet, that enables you test, and even start your business for a mere fraction of the cost associated with a brick and mortar traditional business. That’s why I love the home business model and focus on only those businesses I can run myself and do it from home, or at least 80% from home.
$1,500 bucks for an office lease is not bad, it is definately a justifiable expense. On the other hand I can justify what I could do with the $18,000 per year I’d save by making the same business spin from a home office.

I couldn’t agree more, I’ve never understood why so many people want to immediately take on expensive overheads like offices. Much better to start from home, grow organically and keep expenses to an absolute minimum.
