A lucrative home based business that is marketed as a business opportunity needs to do a few things well.  Over the last 8 years the founders and leadership of the parent company have done the key components well at that is why myself and other choose to get started.  What are these “things” that have to be done well?

For starters any viable business has to have quality and in demand products or services.  I was looking for a simple business that would complement the one I was currently running at the time, and over time, would develop into my sole business. ( I wanted out of the Business I was in)

I’ve been an entrepreneur since my early twenties starting a commercial construction company that specialised in the concrete industry.  I started that business from scratch in 1997 and built it into a market leader in about 6 years.  We had revenues of around two million and thirty plus employees.  As that business grew I found myself exposed to more and more risk every year.  The cash flow model of that business was a joke and there was nothing we could do to change that.  I was constantly at a place of uncertainty and the search for better,  or different customers to overcome the cash flow challenges was 100% futile.

During the winter of 2006 I was seriously contemplating starting another business and that is what led to be starting Create Liberty Enterprises.  I wasn’t sure at first what the business idea would actually be, but I knew what I wanted based on what the current business I had offered and failed to offer.

First off, I wanted to start a business that became more of  a blessing as it grew instead of a curse like the business I was in.  Paying over 80k in workers compensation insurance in 2006 is one example of what had to go.

The 95% failure rated of small businesses in the U.S is not due to the lack of hard work or dumb business owners, it is due to an outdated business model and regulations that almost guarantee failure.  The economy and established institutions, along with investors, do just fine when small businesses fail and that is why this horrific 95% statistic remains acceptable to the status quot.  Well I’m not the status quot and you don’t have to be either.

I can tell you, I don’t pay a dime for workers compensation insurance anymore,  I no longer have an office lease, a warehouse lease, I have, not one employee, and quite frankly I love it.

Another thing, and if your an entrepreneur you’ll understand, I’ve always been a generous person and enjoyed most, helping other people grow and develop.  I knew when I looked at my staff, that regardless of how they preformed or improved, there was little benefit to them or myself or the company.  Operating on such a small percentage or profitability and lacking the power to change that created an environment void of growth after only a few short years for all of us.  I had a choice, I could continue to grow that business and continue to pay increasing insurance costs and the like or I could find a better business to start.

The Internet is a powerful tool and information age type business models are far superior to the traditional business models you may have struggled with as an entrepreneur or as an employee.

Starting a successful home business business with a lucrative business model is one way you can create a financial change in you life.  Its not for everyone, granted, but if you dreams that are “uncommon” then reaching them via common channels is a bit unlikely, no?

That is the thing that I realised and one of the ideas that had me looking for a better way to achieve the results in life I was after.  Don’t get me wrong, I was able to travel all around the nation and visit some pretty cool places in the world. I love traveling with my family and doing fun things.  Being and entrepreneur has allowed me to do those things over the years and for that I’m grateful. 

Starting a home based business opportunity has given me the opportunity for more freedom, less risk, and greater earning potential.  That’s what I as after.  I’m not afraid to work and I work hard, always have.  Now I work smart too.  Much of what I do has a passive element to it and I like that. I earn from multiple streams of income and developing others.
