We live in really cool times entrepreneurial speaking and young entrepreneurs continue to out do themselves every year.  Successful business ideas are all around us in many ways they help to create our very culture.  You don’t have to invent the next YouTube to realise the benefits of a successful business idea and there isn’t a certain age you have to be to get started either.  When I listen to people, who may be family, friends, customers, or strangers, talk about business ideas or starting a business I often hear a few common themes that are really just myths.  Myths that keep many people from starting something new.

What many young entrepreneurs or aspiring business owners might not realize is that you don’t need to have all the details to get started, many successful business owners don’t have a clue “how” something will work, they just know it will and they get started.  One of the “secrets” to successful business ideas is that someone, somewhere…. Did something.  Sound simple, I know, but stay with me.  When you do something, when you put something out there, things happen.  You get reactions, insight, feedback, and sometimes results.  If you can take a business idea and do enough with it to get some results you may just be on your way to the developing  a successful enterprise.

Obstacles to Starting a Successful Business

Many of the entrepreneurs I know are, in part, dreamers. Maybe it’s a requirement?  Action is the key to creating a successful business ideas and at some point you have to Do Something. There are always reasons for not doing something.  Here are some of them I’ve used myself:

• I don’t have enough money.
• People around here wouldn’t go for that idea.
• I don’t have enough time.
• I don’t know how to get started.

The money problem has to be the most popular, I know it has been for me in the past.  What I’ve learned about funding is that it will show up if you business idea is worthy of it.  Most of the expenses of starting a business now days can be avoided or delayed until the business has in some ways proven itself.  Not every business works this way. But maybe you could consider starting one that does work this way, especially if money for starting the business is your business hang up. There are several different successful businesses you can start that don’t require a lot of start up capital.

At Home Business Ideas

Work at home business ideas are one of the best business ideas that you can start with very little money.  Many start home based business with no money, if done it myself in a round about way.  When I first started my online business, which is run exclusively from my home office, I had absolutely no starting capital invested.  The online business I have today, was started with no capital. I share more about this home business model throughout this website, it’s nothing fancy and it is nothing new.  At home business ideas can be started using the Internet and other free or low cost strategies from blogging to affilliate marketing. Building Trades Home Business Ideas

I have a friend online who is a carpenter by trade, apparently a few years back he took a fall and was hurt pretty bad.  His name is Mitch and what he decided to do in his recovery was research ways to earn money online.  He was, probably for the first time, without a means to sustain his income doing what he had always done.  Instead of moping around, he got a pretty good grasp of the Internet.  I’ve watched him learn how the Internet works and recently I’ve seen him apply his knowledge of the Internet with his skill as a craftsman. Just like Mitch I found a niche on the Internet that inspired me.  I love writing, studying and researching small successful business ideas and learning from other entrepreneurs.  This website is one example of a way I can add value and share with others what I have learned.  Successful business ideas often marry one skill or talent that you already have with a new one, Mr. Dillman is a great example of that.

Home Based Consulting Business

If you have expert knowledge or experience and expertise in a given field you can likely sell you knowledge as a consultant.  Starting a home based consulting business can be a low cost business idea.  It may cost you nothing.  It’s actually something I would like to do in 2012 to some extent.  I’ve learned a lot about the Internet over the years and there are some small businesses that could benifit greatly by using the Internet and a business website correctly. One of key elements for me starting this type of at home consulting business is to make sure I do it in a way that is scalable.  I’m not interested in starting a purely service based business and I don’t want to work 90 hours a week. To me successful business ideas have to deliver what the entrepreneur wants too.  What I would likely do is have a few templates made that would work in the industries I’m familiar with.  This is one way that I could offer a web based solutions to small business owners without having to spend so much time.

My Title: ” What’s the Best Small Business to Start in 2011, for 2012” is partly a question and partly an answer to an email I received last week, an email that is quite frequent in varied ways.  I have several people ask via comments on this website, email, and telephone calls what the best way to start a home business is, or they might ask what is the best small business to start right now. It’s almost like having someone ask what the hottest band is right now or the best CD to buy at virgin.

Let’s face it we are in the age of the “Start-up” so to speak.   Starting a small business today can cost as little as a hundred bucks or so and more and more people everyday are looking at becoming an entrepreneur as a serious option.  I don’t have an industry or specific franchise business idea, or anything of the like to recommend.  I like the Internet and business models that utilize the Internet to make money.  I’m always asked to put that in a box. It’s tough.  I wrote an article quite a while back that became very popular on the Internet, it was titled, “ The Best Business to Start for a Beginner in 2011” You can go read that and learn what I feel are some of most important criteria for deciding what the best business to start is given you particular situation.

Another popular article I read talked about the most successful Internet businesses to start and gave three examples. Either way you chalk it up you have to be forward thinking enough and patient enough to know that any business you start in the next few months won’t pay off for a while.  At the beginning that’s a pain, but it’s also what creates opportunity in the long run.  If it were easy, everyone would do it right?  I mean if you were guaranteed a paycheck next week, it wouldn’t be a business it would be a job, right?

Choosing the best business to start is often times more practical than entrepreneurial, I get that. …. And I’ve done that, I know how it works.  One of the things I always like to tell people is to think about what they really want.  Most of us want to feel successful, we want to apply ourselves and we really do want to achieve.  When you start a small business it really pays to think about what you want the business to provide for you.  Most of us are more than willing to pour our hearts and souls into a new business idea, but what are you expecting it give back in return?  Many business ideas will never give you time freedom.  For example, success in a service type business will usually only earn you more work.  Everyone will want YOU to do their landscaping or replace their muffler, is that success to you?

The business I manage online is great. It is specifically designed to do exactly what I  want it to do and it performs very well. I’m not exactly sure what you would call it or what box you would put it in, I’ve wrote extensively on what I feel the best Internet business model is online. I wrote another article on Internet business ideas that make money, it gives you a couple way to start making money online.

There are literally thousand of good ways to make money online, and I even wrote a post titled  “Step by Step Way to Make Money Online“…. Imagine that.  there are business opportunities that are packaged for people who already have jobs, there are small business franchise ideas that thousands are starting every month, there are literally thousand of smart ways to start a business in in 2011, but most all of them won’t offer rewards until 2012, so get started right away.

I love writing posts like this one right here because if your here and your looking to start making money from home with a blog, I’m about to save you around 2 years on your learning curve. I’ve been making money online for about 3 years with a small network of home business blogs and in the last year or so that income has grown into a significant income.  I’m sort of a “do it yourself” kind of guy and I don’t say that with a whole lot of pride when it comes to succeeding online.  There is so much useful information online and when I look back I could have had a much more profitable home business if I’d been willing to seek out those who were prepared and willing to help me right from the start.

Do Blogs Really Make Money?

One of the most successful home business ideas I’ve come across in the last 4 years has been money making blogs. I didn’t start out at an earth shattering pace but over time my blogs have really grown and started producing a solid significant income every month. While I’m not a six figure blogger by any means, the income I make from my blogs helps pay the bills and I enjoy it immensely. Do blogs really make money?… yes they do and if your looking to make money from home a blog is a great way to make money for a beginner. It may not seem like it but I think a blog is one of the best home based business ideas to start.

I noticed something the other day about the online business ideas I’ve had and the best ideas I’ve taken action on seem to last.  When I was just beginning I had the thought, or fear really, of wasted effort, money and time.  I assumed that if I were to create a successful businessthat earned consistent cash, it would only last for a certain period of time and I wondered if the time spent to create it would be worth it.  Ever been there?

Why Most Successful Online Businesses Last

What I’ve learned in the past few years is that the success I’ve had in my online business endeavors seems to last.  So why do most successful online business ideaslast?  What I’ve come to learn is that over the past few years is that things have changed and the way I make money and the amount of money I make doing certain activities change, but success has remained. One of the reasons the Internet is a great place to turn to start a home based business is that the work you do to create a successful website, for example, doesn’t go to waste if need to make a change.

When you start a website or online business it will need to be in a niche or a small focused topic area.  Here’s the thing though…. Regardless of the niche you pick there are always going to be surrounding and related niches you can morph into if the need arises.  My websites continually evolve and expand and this is why the most successful home business ideas online seem to last.

Obviously getting started and picking the best home based business idea for yourself is the most difficult time.  And yes you’ll do a lot of work before you see any return most likely, but remember that work you do will continue to add to your successes in future if done correctly online.

The home business idea of simply building a well researched and profitable website really seems like a long shot to most folks who don’t have any idea what it really takes.   But…When you learn what it takes to actually create a profitable online business from home without a product or service, it makes more sense, here is what I mean…. First off is something were easy, everyone would do it and it would cease to have commercial value.  Making money with a website takes a lot of work and making a significant income with a website alone is reserved for those who are absolutely determined they want the end result that only a profitable website can bring…

Starting  a home based business or any business really that is difficult to achieve success in isn’t a bad idea considering anyone setting out to do the same later is going to have to do the same things you did, and most just aren’t willing.

Most successful small business ideasaren’t really that “genius” they are just the ones that captured you attention and commanded your effort from a place of inspiration.  When you here the quote..” do what you love” it really just means work from a place of inspiration.

I’ve put together an online business article here that reveals the top online business start up ideas from a popularity stand point. I’m not asserting these are the best online businesses to start, I’m merely saying these are the most common paths to home based entrepreneurship that use the Internet.  Not all home based business entrepreneurs operate an online business. These top ways to make money from home are all of the Internet business variety, and they don’t have to include getting payday loans on the web.

What are the perceived advantages to an online business?

Based on my own experience and research these are the top reasons people prefer the online business models compare to other business models.

• Most online business ideas offer an opportunity for creativity.
• Most online business ideas are non service type businesses.
• Most successful online business models are in some ways passive in structure.
• It is realistic to own many online businesses, not just one.
• The expenses and overhead of most online businesses is extremely low.
• The start up cost of an online business are lower, both in terms of time and money.

I’ve realized these points to be advantages over most any traditional business and these are some of the reasons I really love the online business model. The other thing is people.  If I don’t want to deal with people, I don’t have to. The way I’ve structured my business allows me to turn it off and on, but I still make money. If I have other plans for a few months, like sailing, I just don’t schedule any consulting clients or deal with direct ad buys or any of that. My more passive income streams will still flow and I really like this about an Internet based business.

Blogging~Why is blogging the first choice among online business entrepreneurs? Because it looks easy….Seriously.  It makes sense too, that the most popular way to make money from home (or at least try) is blogging.  I mean I couldn’t tell you how many dead blogs I’ve come across online.  People think they can start a blog and make a ton of money, after 30 to 60 days of not making a penny they quit.  But blogging is still probably the #1 most popular online business start up idea.

#2 Online Business Startup Idea

Affiliate Marketing~ Closely related, maybe even a brother to blogging, affiliate marketing is the next choice for beginner online entrepreneurs. It makes sense too.  Beginners don’t have their own products so it seems logical to try their hand at selling someone else’s.  And affiliate market is a great way to make some serious cash.  In fact I’d say it’s on of the top ways to make money that has created the most “millionaire” or “multi-six figure earners.  I’ve personally witnessed product launches (not my own) that have made several hundred grand in the first two months! Lot’s of money.

#3 Online Business Startup Idea

Web Publisher~ This is the third most popular online business start up and its a lot like blogging.  Id say a web publisher is a successful blogger.  They write on real topics that have a real interest and they create quality content that helps people understand the web or anything really.  There are health related websites, fitness related websites, you name it.  So how to publishers make money online?  By selling ad space.  It’s amazing how big some of these sites are and ad revenues can really add up (no pun intended).

I know there are a myriad of different business ideas online right now and new business ideas coming up every day, but I’d say these are the top online business start up ideas and also by far the most popular ways people try to make money from home.

The Truth Home Based Online Businesses.

The truth is, based on my own experience and research, that most successful online business entrepreneurs worked real hard to get the results they have.  Most, not all, were entrepreneurs to begin with or at least entrepreneurial minded.  Personally I’ll tell you that I’ve worked just as hard with my online business as I ever have a traditional business.  I like the results I get with my Internet endeavors much more.

What comes to mind when you try and think of the best small business to start in 2010?  To think of the best small business I’d say most of us would  look around our community and would find something missing or a business that could be improved, maybe even a business that is no longer around.  For a beginner, a person who is first time entrepreneur, choosing the best small business to start is probably going to start with what your doing now or something peripheral.

I make a full-time income online with a small network of websites I own. To many it wouldn’t seem like a business at all. I don’t have employees, expenses, or headaches…. all things commonly associated with owning  a small business.  It took me a couple years to generate a significant income… It can be done much faster though. If your a beginner looking to create an online income, I recommend checking out the article I wrote titled, “Top Online Business for  Beginners” ,it list three specific paths to creating a passive income that are uniquely designed for a novice.

Some of the best small business ideas are so simple it makes people wonder how they ever work and others that make millions you probably don’t even realise are out there. Focusing on serving an end customer is key.

Thousands ( because I’m too lazy to look it up) of businesses are started every year by technicians who know how to “do it” and figure they can do it better than the chump they are working for.  One of the best small business coaches, Micheal Gerber, calls this the “E-myth” and refers to an “entrepreneurial moment” as the actually realisation that you could indeed deliver better service or deliver a better product faster than the company you work for.

For example if your a drywall finisher and an employee, it would make sense that starting your own drywall business is logical.  Indeed this is one of the most popular paths to first time entrepreneurship.

Is the business that makes the most logical sense the best small business for a beginner to start?

Probably not….

The answer didn’t set well with me when I first learned of the idea that just because your a great drywall finisher doesn’t mean your a great entrepreneur. But what did I know.

Ten or fifteen years later it all makes sense. I was in my early twenties then and nothing made sense to me unless I did it.  My sole decision making process relied on my “knowledge”.  I only knew it if I did it.  When you know something, you have knowledge of it and the best way to get it, maybe the only way, is to do it.  I’ve since learned that knowledge is expensive, especially if its my own.

Tip: The next best thing to personal knowledge….Someone Else’s!

The Best Small Businesses

All of the best small business ideas, the successful business start ups, have several things in common. I don’t pretend to be a trend spotter, cause I’m not, but studying small business start ups and entrepreneurs for the last 15 years has shown me some things. I’ve learned to stick with businesses that I’m genuine interested in. I like fresh produce and spreading the idea that eating good food is important, most of us eat garbage! So I’m developing a group of produce markets. I also like the game of making money. I love my Internet business and making money online is really fun. I like passive income but hate the idea of rentals. My parents had rentals I helped with growing up and I just don’t like the rental business. I’d say on of the best businesses to start for  a beginner is Affiliate Marketing.

Working with others who have success and knowledge/experience in areas you may not is the smart way to go about  starting a business. Money magazine says that online catalogs or stores is a booming business. I wouldn’t know where to start when it comes to that so I’d find someone who does.

Its kind of like reading books on wealth creation, success, and leadership.

Did you ever notice, after the 15th business book or so, they kind of all say the same thing?  I call those same things “principles”. They are old but not rusty because they are used everyday by millions of successful entrepreneur, parents, and professionals around the world.

So what are some of the recurring themes of the best small business enterprises today?

• Scalability.
• Ease of Innovation.
• Accessible Target Market.
• Likelihood of a loyal following.
• Relevant.

I’ll add minimal downside to the list because that is a huge factor when we are talking about a first time entrepreneur starting a small business, more about that in minute.

Scalability, simply put, is will it work in the beginning AND when you’ve hit it right on and the business screams GROW!  This is a big deal when you are choosing the best small business and how you intend to start and grow the business.

Example: If you wanted to develop a blog network and you just started a couple wordpress blogs, making nice posts like this one, its great, but it ain’t scalable.  Unless of course you had a plan to build a platform that would launch a more scalable business idea like a crowd sourced content creation strategy.

Example: Starting a nation wide fast food chain by building a restaurant down the block isn’t scalable, however developing a franchise business model to accomplish this (in one life time) is…. i.e, MacDonald’s.

Ease of Innovation, used to be “innovative”.  An innovative small business idea doesn’t cut anymore. Its not about how innovative a small business idea is, its about how fast you can innovate within the small business you create.  I see it like you have to have a tight niche target market that is loyal, because you rock, yet you have about a dozen different ways you can go to keep the market, grow the market, or increase spend from the same market you have. How easy is to offer something different, how fast can “what’s next, be next”

Example: Walmart (not the expert here) started with stuff.  They sold a bunch of other people’s stuff.  It was about distribution. They had a great business idea and developed the best distribution model. They didn’t make a thing…Except CASH.  Fast forward 20 years and now Walmart offers eye care, hair styling, banking, shoe repair, automobile service, and on and on.  They basically started to distribute service the same way the did products. I think that sums up what I intend to explain when I say ease of innovation and how the best small business is the one that can grow many different directions without loosing you current loyal following.

Accessible target marketis sort of a no brainer, but think about it. Not every business start upis going to be profitable especially if it is geographically challenged.  If your small business start up is going to rely on a target market that is spread across the world, how will you reach them? Can you reach them via the web? If so, how will or how can, you develop a loyal following.  Where do they congregate now?

Example: Where I live we have a farmers market, you probably have one too.  The surrounding communities and local governments worked to provide a place for farmers markets. Its great for farmers who bring their produce and handmade crafts on a Saturday morning and great for the people who need the items.  It was a way to make the market accessible to the farmers and the customers, saving both time and money. Not bad!

The last two items on the list go hand in hand.  If you have a relevent business idea, it should be likely a loyal following could be developed. I think the ease at which this happens is a crucial point when deciding what the best small business to start is in your community.

What’s the Best Business to Start in 2012?

The best small business to start in 2011 is no different than the hot business start ups of a decade ago in principle.  The products the business offers or the services rendered will change, and man do they ever, but the best small businesses are solving apparent and relevant problems, making someones Else’s life easier, or entertaining someone who is.

Oh I almost forgot. Downside.  I read a neat article the other day that talked about downside I think it was on www.quicksprout.com The point Neil made was that no downside is a hell of a lot more important to the person who is starting a business for the first time that a huge upside.  It follows “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”.  If you only have a couple sources of income it probably isn’t best to chase down a small business idea because of a huge upside, it will involve risk. Risk that could take you out of the game.  Partnerships, timing, and creative business development are all ways to minimise downside on large upside business start up. Think about it!

This is a great video on entrepreneurship and why entrepreneurial business ideas are important.  It hits a great point on creating socially responsible  and sustainable components to make the world a better place to live.

I agree with the point that is made about a major difference being effident between self employment and being an entrepreneur.  I look at it this way: If you have to get up tomorrow and do it again, your self employed. If you die tomorrow and your enterprise continues to add value to its contributors lives and the lives of those who come in contact with it, its entrepreneurial.

Entrepreneurs drive change in the world we live in. Not all business owners, and we can all name a few, are entrepreneurs.  I’ve always known its not all about making money, but have difficulty explaining why I love implementing entrepreneurial ideas as much as I do. 

I think it comes down to impact.  When I was little I used to spin the back tire on my bike and look back to see the mark, entrepreneurialism is like that, its making a mark. Nurturing entrepreneurialism isn’t a sales job its about providing transparent communication to people young and old alike about what is possible. Being exposed to the idea that you could change the world and create a business that solves a social problem you loathe needs to happen intentionally and consistently starting at a young age… (in my opinion)

Even micro business concepts have added value in the marketplace and improved the lives of millions. From low cost start ups to huge transportation business ventures entrepreneurs are changing the world and changing it in the way the people desire.

I just spent an hour or so researching hot business start ups and online business idea trending for 2010 and the next couple years. No big surprises really. Business ideas that are poised for hot online start ups have leveled off a bit I think. Seems a several year meltdown period followed a go for broke, get it now, free for all with the late nineties and early 2000′s.

Sticking with our theme of home based business ideas I thought I’d mention a few of the hot business ideas that are becoming popular start ups from home. I’ll save the benefits or better yet redirect you when I can find some of the articles I’ve posted on the benefits of home based business models.

One trend people are seeing in the wake of the dot com bust is small businesses reassessing the Internet. Not as a new business model or as an opportunity for investment with large return, but more as a way to improve on what they are already doing. Many are low cost business ideas, some are even free, requiring no capital.

Some of the top business ideas that were started in the last three years are simply user friendly tools to communicate with customers. Companies like iContact who simply provide a platform that a company can use for marketing, improving customer loyalty, and even to educate its employees on web based marketing in 2010.

I’ve notice the everyday tasks associated with doing business get so simple with the advent of the tight niche platform products that new online start ups are using as a springboard into the marketplace. Its great, some even make my life easier.

One, more specific, business idea for 2010 that is building a whole new class of entrepreneurs and “socialpreneurs” are CMS’s or Content Management Systems. A CMS makes it extremely easy for everyday or “nontechnical” people, like myself, to publish websites and blogs. The new group or industry, if you will, that these CMS’s are creating is SEO professionals. Search Engine Optimization is a surging market.

Comprised of small one man companies and large growing corporations the SEO industry is really starting to boom. It takes what it takes and when website owners are counting the costs of doing business SEO is making it on the list and for good reason. Search traffic is a quality of traffic that can be so targeted, so refined, that its worth investing in. When in history have we been able to connect with people who are looking for exactly what we have, EXACTLY when they are looking?

Its a powerful business concept. One that I’m really excited about and enjoy the benefits of. Not only do I use my Blackberry to find information from anywhere, I also use the intricacies of search to improve traffic to my few small business blogs. I’m a small player in the world of search and that’s OK. I’ve got my place and enjoy it. I earn money doing something I like and would do anyway. Kinda cool.

One of the reasons I mentioned the business idea that I did is because it really is a pure home based business. SEO along with several other web based services can be done well right from a home office. The top small business owners and Home business entrepreneurs are one of the major buyers of SEO work and much of the work done for them is done from home offices.  A good guess would say that some of the best in social network marketing are not detail oriented number crunchers and working from their favorite chair just might make them that much better?

Another small business start up that is hot and growing is consulting. The Internet along with these smooth content management systems is paving the way for consultants to really reach out and get their message across to a much broader geographic area without diluting their core purpose. Its really wonderful from a small business consultants perspective and I suspect the ones who invest the time in developing a strong web presence will reap healthy rewards in results, contacts and clients well into the future.

I came across a site recently, a great site really, talking about socially responsible business models from education to small business innovation. Give it a look its called nuPolis They use a, new to me, content management system that really looks intelligent. Notice how it combines social networking as a way to start a conversation and more importantly spread one.  That’s the thing with good business ideas the ones that spread get implemented.  Not just business ideas, creating real, lasting, and impactful social change in our time is going to happen via, and maybe because of the power of the Internet.

I write mostly about home business ideas on this small business blog and this title came to mind earlier.  Home based business ideas that work for average people multiply daily, you may already know this if you been researching business ideas online.

So whats average anyway?

Well, I’d say average people have a job they dedicate a good amount of time to.  They have a decent place to live and reliable car to drive.  Statistics say the average person in the U.S. earns around 36k and works around 50.3 hours per week.

I guess another name for this post could have been home business ideas for people who have a real job or business ideas for employees or business ideas for people looking to earn 10k to 20k more per year without sacrificing every waking hour.

Here’s the deal, or proposition, if you will.  Why don’t you start a blog that integrates what you do for a living, what you would like to do for a living and what your doing to get there.  Another good point: GOOD POINT: If you were a blogger and did the work to gain credibility and a following on your blog don’t you think it might open some doors the next time you were looking for a job?  Think maybe you would even get offers? Probably…

I’m not saying that blogging in and of itself is a great home based business idea or a profitable one, though it could be, I’m saying its a start.  I love the idea of momentum when it comes to business and creating a successful business idea.  Just doing anything leads to something and sometimes something leads to significance. You agree?

Successful home businesses are not all that complicated and depending on your income goals a blog might be a great way to get started.  If your not into committing to a full fledged business, try committing to a small business blog about your area of expertise.

Another great area I write about from time to time is personal development.  Actually personal development was the key to me starting this blog.  I get thousands of visitors every month to this little small business blog and I just basically write my ideas about small business and success.

I earn money with my blog a couple different ways out or dozens of ways to earn money online.  I do some advertising sales, lead generation, and a couple other little things, oh and some affiliate product sales. 

For instance, right now I’m working on connecting with someone or a company that is interested in generating leads online.   I’ll find someone who is serious about generating leads for a business opportunity, a small business product or something of that sort and offer a marketing opportunity to them. Not sure what that will earn but I think adding contact forms to a few of my sites and generating a hundred or so leads a month is worth a nice little chunk of change. Its a rewarding home based business idea.

Average people are earning money online doing dozens of things from selling stuff on eBay to starting SEO consulting companies.  Web design is a great home business ideas you could start locally and expand later using the Internet.

Successful small business ideas are a vehicle, driven by a success minded person.  I really think success minded people become successful people. Its and intentional thing…. I think…

I think it can happen almost on accident if you have a genuine passion for the business your in, but sometimes its gonna take the will to persist and be consist and through slow or difficult times.  I think  a good business idea is the one that gets you excited and keeps you up at night.

Smart business ideas are all around us I think and they are often connected already to the live we are living.  I think people sometimes overlook the most obvious choices for a good small business start up.  I see a lot of “me too” businesses and entrepreneurs looking to tap into an existing market by competing on price alone.  Commoditization of just about every service and product driven business is possible and this mindset only ensures its early arrive.

Earning 60 to 100 thousand dollars as an employee isn’t what it used to be, and it seems a bit tougher to find a employment opportunity to accomplish this dimming feat.  Teachers, medical professionals and just about every corporate professional niche in between are looking for ways to earn an extra 20 to 30 thousand dollars per year.  Depending on the area you live and the profession you’ve chosen its likely a starting salary won’t quite crest the 30k per year mark and in many places earning 25k to start is a stretch.

These are a few things I’ve found with operating a successful home business using the Internet.  I’ve built traditional small businesses in the past and can say that a home business or Internet business idea is much easier and the mistakes are much less costly.

Earning extra money online consistently takes a commitment, you have to be persistent.  Its about committing to the process of learning and doing everything you need to do in order to be successful.  Sound familiar, right?

The top advantages to and online business or home based business idea are in my experience, flexibility, low start up costs, part time (time) commitment, passive income opportunities, and the opportunity to learn new things.

Being savvy on the Internet and understanding Internet marketing causes me to see opportunity everywhere when it comes to making extra money from home.  If you have, and you do, information that can save someone time, money or both you can make extra money from home.

As with most things, you need to put the necessary parts together to create a successful small business.  Your business idea is one part, getting the idea, product or service in front of others is another part.  When all the different parts of the business comes together, its really great, it is worth the hard work.
