We’ve all heard happiness is a state of mind, Walt Disney coined the phrase long ago. Ever notice that when your happy your just, well, happy. It kind of comes upon you, usually by accident…. when your not thinking about what you need to do tomorrow or regretting something from yesterday.

I will discuss an exercise that will end frustration and allow you to increase happiness on a day to day basis. Every now and then I set down and do an inventory… an inventory of my emotions, resentments, fears, and other things that clog my happiness lens. You should too.

Effective exercise to increase happiness.

This exercise works, if your willing to slow down and devote a few minutes each day to self discovery and improving your experience. First off, in order to be frustrated, you usually are using comparison thinking. In other words, in order for you to be frustrated with the weather right now, you must have had a picture of what you thought the weather should be like, right?

How To Start Being Happier.

This is an example of comparison thinking and eliminating it is a must if your would like to be less frustrated and happier. It is crucial to understand what you need to let go of and what you need to take a stand on. The first thing I need to realize if I’m wanting to be happier is that I can’t control outcomes, I can’t control people, and I can’t control my results all of the time.

Exercise to End Frustration.

What I can control is my attitude. And that is where happiness starts, in the attitude. It’s a state of mind right? Here is a step by step approach to end frustration and increase happiness immediately.

Affirm to your self, “I want to be happy, I want to feel good”.

Recognize what your trying to control, what your comparing, or what expectation you have.

Make a choice, right now happiness, or frustration and discontentment?

Take note of the picture or comparison. Write It down.

Do this throughout the day. Be consistent! At the end of the day, simply sit down and look at the list of things that pissed you off or frustrated the hell out of you. If you play a management role at work, you may find other people pissed you off, in general, if you work with people this is many times the case.

Here is the deal, what I want is of no great importance to other people or to the world. The things that frustrate me are things that I VIEW as direct opposition to something that is important to me. Frustrating things are clues to who I am and what I most desire.

Reduce Stress.

I’ve learned that true accomplishment requires being free of frustration. for me this mean being detached from outcomes. If I expect people to treat me a certain way, expect things to happen a certain way, wish someone in my life acted differently, or whatever, If these things are more important than my happiness then they will persist. If I continue to give these things a battle and resistance, they will continue to show up in my life.

Frustration Exercise Summary.

Bottom line, I want to be happy, this is my priority throughout the day. I say it constantly in my head and it causes me to take a different perspective and react differently to different situations. Stress is lower, much lower, when I don’t buy into frustration. I’ve used the above exercise for the past year and it work, it works really good. It has helped me not to be so judgemental of myself, others, and situations… Because my priority is to be happy!

The funny thing is, when I give up the struggle and the need to control all this stuff, things fall into place much better than if I were trying to stack them. Like all the personal development exercises I talk about on this site, you have to work at it until it becomes habit, then its easy, it is part of who you are.

Tip on Happiness.

Remembering to take a few minutes every day just for you and your development. It is a great form of self love and you will find yourself treating others in your life much better, when you treat your self to a more joyful experience day to day.

Exercise on Living one day at a time

While future plans are exciting and reminiscing can be joyful, living one day at a time is an age old idea that is important today. I thought I would share a bit how to put this adage to use in your life. I try to live by it. I’m not perfect at it. Worry creeps in, some times expectations go unfulfilled, but for the most part everything flows better when I just take one day at a time.

Here is a morning affirmation, or a prayer or a meditation, whichever you prefer to call it. It is something I came across many years ago and still use it. I originally came to use it when I was having a particular problem with the way I was treating others. More specifically employees. This idea made me a better manager of business and people, myself included.

An exercise to stop worrying. Worry is thinking about something not in front of you.

Living one day at a time is really an invitation to the here and now. Being in the moment makes life art. If your building something, and you are, your doing so right now and only right now. In passing those words… right now… your moving on to the next now, and the next now, and now, and now, now, now, now. Never again will that now be this now, now, that is time my friend, are you here right now and now, now. That is pretty neat, no?

Here is that prayer.

You know the desires of my heart, you know what I would

love most to be, do and have. You take all that. I entrust it

to you, you’ve proven yourself worthy to me and I trust you.

Take my worries and cares and make them your own. Just give

me quiet strength today that I might do your will and be kind

to your children, asking nothing in return.

Often times worry is associated with anxiety. One of the trusted programs to reduce and eliminate anxietyI always felt a great sense of relief when I started my day this way. I had clarity and was able to better recognize opportunity. Being grateful for the things in my life was difficult for me. I didn’t like some of the stuff. I have had amazing break throughs, seen obstacles literally become gateways to things I only dreamed of. If you struggle with gratitude and want to deal with quickly get this free 6 lesson e-course on gratitude. This comes from an African Mystic. I don’t pretend to promote the religions their, but they have amazing power to manifest, I call it the law of attraction, or faithful prayer, there it is VooDoo. That Gratitude program is the most powerful collection of transforming info on gratitude you will ever read.

Ending the day with reflection is a healthy idea as well. One day at a time doing these things begins to make a day look like the gift it is. A holistic life can be crafted if care is taking. A holistic life is the life that takes not effort, but is fed by the inspiration it creates. ( That is my quote, you can use it.)

Any thoughts? Ideas… do you think this is all dumb?

How do I increase my gratitude?

I Have tried about a million exercises to stay intentional in a positive mindset and on track, but for some reason 3 or 4 days down the road you hanging out with the old rutted up you again? Here is a 10 second exercise that can easily become a daily habit for you and this is key.

Why Habits Work.

You see habit are easy and because they are easy, they work. It’s not that we are lazy, just creatures of habit. If you really want to change things in your daily experience of life, change you habits, not your thinking. Let your habits do the work, they will change you thinking. Manifesting the ideal life on one hand sounds arrogant almost but we have the tools today.

Simple exercise for increasing gratitude.

Here is my wee morning coffee exercise: I like coffee. When I’m making my coffee in the morning I say to myself and sometimes out loud, “I really enjoy a fresh cup of coffee in the morning”. This sounds almost goofy…. Try it!

If increasing gratitude, becoming more grateful, is something your ready to be on top of once and for all, I recommend trying this program. It is very inexpensive and offers some simple ideas that really do work. Let us know how you make out.

Gratitude Program or Guide.

“I really enjoy” really ticks a inward tone of gratitude for me. While saying ” I’m grateful for this cup of coffee” causes me to feel like simple living monk. Simple gratitude exercises like this one can be applied to anything you really enjoy. Imagine spending your life doing the things you really enjoy. having an intentional program, a daily program is key to maintaing gratitude and living healthy. There is an african mystic that teaches a powerful gratitude program, you can get the 6 lesson ecourse free. Learn more.

What changing a habit can do for you.

By forming a habit of speaking to the things you enjoy, the things you enjoy will expand, the things you despise will wilt away for lack of watering with feeling filled simplistic statements of ” I enjoy”.

Let us know! Tell us if this work for you as well as it works for us.
